" I strained my hip being too aggressive with a stretch and aggravated my right hip arthritis. I could walk distances for about 5 minutes maximum and had to sit down every fifteen minutes or half an hour during the course of a day. I had difficulty doing every day things. Getting in and out of a car, going to the food store and doing dishes. I couldn't shop with my daughters and even sitting too long was a problem so I rarely went to a movie or out to dinner.

At my previous PT location I felt I was in a mill type of setting with mass-produced prescribed exercises not tailored to my individual needs. At Peak Performance, I received the hope and encouragement I needed as I was apprehensive after my first PT experience. Mike explained the reasons behind each exercise and the goals ahead. I didn't know I would come this far and I am very grateful to Mike N. and all the wonderful staff who helped me feel better in every way.

I can now walk around the mall with my daughters without any problem. I can stay on my feet as long as I want or need to and can ride a stationary bike for half an hour. I am virtually pain free after months of constant hip, groin and leg pain. Mike also addressed serious tightness and pain in my neck and back that had been present for about 25 years! After doing Physical Therapy for my neck, back and hips I am so much more comfortable everywhere and didn't think I could improve this much!"

"As a former college athlete I am dealing with several different sports injuries, which makes it complicated to identify just one problem and fix it. Mike N's functional approach to rehab is important to me, because he sees the "big picture." I found my rehab program to be dynamic, and that it addresses all of the demands an active and healthy lifestyle would put on my body (not just one little part of it). I have been to many physical therapists, yet have worked with few who understand the desire to return to "optimal functioning" versus "good enough." There are many factors in that equation, and I believe that Mike understands and considers all of them. After seeing the positive results I have had with Mike, I wouldn't trust anyone else!"

"I tore my MCL/PCL after a baseball collision while catching a pop fly. I could not walk without crutches and could not straighten my leg/knee. Since coming to Peak I have returned to sports. I made both the soccer and basketball teams at school. I was told I could be back in sports in 12-16 weeks and it happened. I was treated with respect and any questions I had were answered."

"I dove back into first base and my shoulder popped out, which tore my labrum. I had trouble reaching for things that were high out of the way like over the shoulder or over my head. Since coming to Peak PT my shoulder has gained almost all of its strength back. I learned new exercises to improve my shoulder's strength. My shoulder is almost fully recovered and I feel like it decreases my chance of it happening again. Everyone at Peak made sure that I never over-did my exercises even though it "felt alright". Mike was always determined to get my shoulder back to 100%."

"My feet hurt whether they were in use or not. I could not walk without pain and limped. Since coming to Peak Performance Physical Therapy I am currently walking 10-12 miles per week and intend to up things to 15 miles per week. Michael was completely knowledgeable and professional. After two hours of testing, physical application, inquiries and going over x-rays and physician's notes we moved forward...literally. Again, thank you for knowing and moving me forward."

"I had a hip injury from playing ultimate frisbee. My biggest limitations before starting PT were running and walking without pain. I now only rarely have pain and don't feel limited when exercising. Everyone had a positive and encouraging attitude."

"I had an auto accident 53 years ago with subsequent cartilage deterioration which required a total knee replacement and then a second surgery to remove excessive scar tissue.

My biggest limitations before starting PT were stair climbing, being on my feet for more than 1 hour, pain and swelling and reduced mobility. I was also depressed because of the pain and limited activity.

After coming to Peak Performance PT things are wonderful! I can climb stairs more successfully. Staying on my feet and being more active aren't a problem any more. NO MORE PAIN!! and only minor swelling occasionally. The increased activity makes life more fun and the mood more elevated.

What makes Peak Performance different than other Physical Therapy practices I attended is the very skilled therapist who assured me that we could improve the situation significantly. A lot of hands-on work and a carefully tailored home exercise plan. Good humor and encouragement, encouragement, encouragement! And the overall positive and cheerful attitude of the well-equipped facility in general."

"My injury occurred as an overuse injury from running.

I was unable to continue with my speed training or long distance running without extreme hip pain.

There is no longer any hip pain and I am able to do speedwork and run at full throttle.

Mike taught me many stretches which eliminated the problem. Mike was always pleasant and very knowledgable about treating my injury. Mike took his time with me and I never felt rushed.

At Peak Physical Therapy "IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU"."

" I had a torn ACL from playing lacrosse. I had no flexion or range of motion. I lost all of my leg muscle after surgery. Now I feel stronger than I was before and ready to play sports again. The Physical Therapists at Peak Performance really care about you and motivate you to get back to 100%. I had as much fun there as you possibly can during Physical Therapy"

Type of Injury: "Rotator Cuff Tear"

How did your injury occur? "I fell while skiing. Falling backward I put my right arm back to catch myself and break my fall."

What were your biggest limitations or problems before starting PT? "Extremely limited range of motion that felt to me like it was decreasing every day when it should have been increasing as a result of Physical Therapy sessions from another place (whose name I will not mention in this story.)

What improvements or results have you seen after coming to Peak Performance PT? "My range of motion is now back to original baseline. I am able to do all the things that I want to do and as I continue to strengthen my shoulder the quality with which I can do these things increases as well. I GOT MY LIFE BACK :)"

Did you attend Physical Therapy at another office before Peak Performance PT? "Yes, YUCK."

What made your experience at Peak Performance PT positive and/or different from other PT treatments? "Persistence cultivates excellence. Mike took the time to listen to my goals, to my concerns, my struggles and my successes. It was obvious that the plan of care and treatment he developed and worked on with me was individualized and geared to my ultimate goal of "getting my life back." When presented with a few minor setbacks, Mike was able to continually re-adjust the treatment plan to ensure progress and continued healing."

"It was always apparent to me that the re-adjustments Mike made were developed through careful thought, consideration and an application of his knowledge. I believe that if I had stayed with the Physical Therapy providers I was originally sent to I would not be as healthy or strong as I am today - or my shoulder is today."

"So...what made my experience at Peak Performance PT positive and/or different from other PT treatments I experienced is:

  1. Continued Person Centered Treatment & an Individualized Plan of Care.

  2. Mike's vast knowledge and experience and his ability to apply those, even when the unexpected arises.

  3. Mike's careful persistence, ability to focus on progress and help maintain hope when our body gets to determine what we will do and how we will do it, as opposed to our mind & soul.

  4. And finally, STICKERS!!!! (Purple ones too)"

"I started my low back therapy at a time I could hardly bend to tie my sneakers. Through Mike's instruction and guidance I now have returned to an active lifestyle and my pain is managed usually without pain relievers. Thanks Mike! P.S. Sheila does a great job managing the scheduling."

"Mike Golisano and everyone at Peak Performance turned a bad situation into a very positive experience. I actually looked forward to my appointments. Mike was always so positive and friendly and made me feel important, not just another appointment. I was surprised at the progress I made in just a few short weeks and I didn't feel pressured into a long-term commitment. Sheila is so pleasant and helpful, even early in the morning and after a long day. I will definitely recommend Peak to anyone I know."

"Second, and final goal met (first goal-skiing in Feb.) Had my first outdoor soccer game last Monday. I was confident and excited to play again. My knee was strong, and it wasn't sore the next day either!!! I continue the PT exercises at home and at the IHS Fitness Center.

Thank you so much :) and Happy Summer!!!"

"I had a torn ACL in my left knee from a work related injury, tackling a suspect while working as a State Trooper. I was unable to perform my day to day activities. I am now able to work and return to all activities! My experience at Peak PT was absolutely great. All the staff are friendly and caring. Mike, my PT, took great care and concern in my rehab. Mike and the staff went over and beyond their protocol to help get me back to work and feel/be in better shape than I was prior to my injury. They all treated me like a family member and I looked forward to my treatment every week."

"The thing that impressed me most about Mike N. was that during the first visit he made me feel like getting a 100% recovery would happen. He asked what my goal was and that's what we achieved. A positive attitude makes a huge difference. He truly cares about his clients' well being and recovery."

"As a teacher, I appreciated the knowledge & explanations to the why and how of Physical Therapy that I received from Mike as I stretched and strengthened my way back into shape for the garden/kayaking season. Wow, even homework that I can continue to keep my body in tune with! Many Thanks!"

"Another thank you to Mike N. once again!!

I went skiing with my husband during Feb. break. We had a wonderful sunny day at Whiteface Mt.; my knee was strong skiing, and, it wasn't sore the next day; I was elated!!!

Sign-up for Zumba; first class yesterday (3/29) Knee was strong, modified some moves; overall had a blast, and "knee and I" accomplished all my goals."

Forever grateful,

" I tore a ligament in my elbow from playing over 50 travel softball. The ligament was torn from the bone which required Tommy John Surgery. Throwing overhand couldn't be done. I am now able to throw the ball! Before the surgery I wasn't able to throw overhand more than 15 feet without terrible pain. Now, I can throw the length of a basketball court. My accuracy and speed has been greatly improved. This process took ~14 months of PT.

Mike Golisano was great! Always answered my questions and concerns. He is very easy going and easy to talk to. He never criticized me when I did not do my exercises.

Sheila at the desk is always pleasant & always took care of my appointments and billing issues quickly!"
